Fred Donald Whitehead was born July 6, 1936 in De Soto a son to Fred Daniel and Zelma (nee Zufall) Whitehead. He died February 28, 2010 at Hillcrest Care Center at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife Faye (nee Williams) Whitehead; a daughter Tamara “Tammy” (Richard) Graham; two sons Blaine (Kelly) Whitehead and Colby (Kristine) Whitehead; two sisters Margaret (Don,Sr.) Armbruster and Virginia Silsby; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Bob Silsby. He owned the Vess Soda Distributorship for the area and later worked for Dee Gee’s/ Queen’s Market in Hillsboro. He was very community minded serving as the purchasing agent for Hillsboro Little League as well as being elected to the Hillsboro R-3 School Board and as 2nd District Commisioner for Jefferson County. He served in the National Guard 1035th Maintenance Unit and belonged to the Poplar Rotocraft Association. |
