Walter M. Schmitt, Jr. was born in St. Louis on May 9, 1950 a son to Marie (nee Vest) and Walter M. Schmitt, Sr. He died on January 15, 2021 at Town and Country Heath and Rehabilitation at the age of 70. He is survived by two brothers: Steve (Kay) Schmitt, Herculaneum and Thomas (Linda) Schmitt, Council Bluffs, Iowa; two nieces: Angela (Rev. Jay) Jackson and Tiffany (Chad) Nation and three nephews: Matt (Tiffany) Schmitt, Brian (Diane) Schmitt, and Andrew (Amanda) Schmitt and their families. The family also wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Walter’s longtime caretaker Diane Hendrix. He is preceded in death by his parents. Wally had worked as a flooring installer for Smitty’s Home Decorating Center and Walt’s Tile and Paint.
