Elizabeth Hesch Howard was born in St. Louis on March 27, 1929 a daughter to Louis and Elizabeth (nee Dierker) Hesch. She died at Mercy Hospital-Jefferson on October 20, 2017 at the age of 88. She is survived by three sons: Arthur (Amor) Howard, South Carolina, Bruce (Tammy) Howard, De Soto, and Curt Howard, De Soto; ten grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Gwynn, Charlotte, NC, Frances Poulter, Chester, IL, and Agnes Kaszewski, Dyer, IN; and two brothers: Louis Hesch, Millstadt, IL and Phillip Hesch, Grubville. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Leslie Howard; and one sister: Theresa Ritter. A graduate of Notre Dame High School in St. Louis she worked for a short time at Anheuser-Busch until she married Leslie Howard on May 16 of 1958. She then was a homemaker until she and Les owned and operated Opal’s Restaurant and Motel in Hillsboro. She was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she helped clean the church. She also assisted in the mass when Pope John Paul II visited St. Louis.
