Donald Lee “Bug” Coffey passed on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 at his home. Born on July 1, 1950 to Donald Lee Coffey, Sr. and Carolyn Elizabeth (Oliver) Hall.
Don served in the U.S. Army, 1st Calvary in Vietnam, where being wounded under hostile fire he earned 4 Purple Hearts and 4 Bronze Stars. He was retired from Shade Tree.
His interests were hunting, fishing, exploring for antiques, spending time with family and friends. He loved to tell a good story. Besides his parents, he is survived by his love /caretaker: Joan Tribble; one son, Craig (Carrie) Roland; one granddaughter, Riley; and one step-grandson, Koby; three sisters, Wanda (John) Peters, Sharleen (Mike) Peters and Kathy Wilson. Special friends, Rob Ludwig and Adam Tribble; eight nieces and nephews, eleven great nieces and great nephews and one great-great niece.
Don was preceded in death by his grandparents: Berl and Martha Oliver and Roscoe and Myrtle Hartsock; one nephew, Jerry M. Peters; step-mother, Paula Coffey, step-father, Jim Hall and special friend/brother, Larry Hall.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 7, from 4-7 PM with the funeral service beginning at 7 PM. On Friday Sept. 8 at 9 AM a funeral procession will form at the Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home and proceed to the National Cemetery Jefferson Barracks for a graveside service with Military Honors.
