Veronica Marie Hammond Fields was born in Old Mines on June 23, 1930 a daughter to Albert J. and Marie Mary (nee Bequette) Bourisaw. She died on February 12, 2017 in De Soto at the age of 86. She is survived by three sons: Rusty (Patty) Hammond, De Soto, Danny Hammond, De Soto, and Matt (Valerie) Hammond, New York, NY; five grandchildren: Tonya (Mike) West, Beth Hammond, Nicole (Chris) Whitley, Jeremy (Sarah) Hammond, and Ben (Nicole) Hammond; five great-grandchildren: Katie, Charlie, Sylas, Vincente, and Nolan; four sisters: Viola (the late Oscar) Maness, De Soto, Geraldine (Bud) Myers, Hillsboro, Janice (Carl) Schott, Palm Springs, CA, and Charlotte (Henry) Skiles, De Soto; and one brother: Cecil “Buck” (Carol) Bourisaw, Desloge. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Otho Hammond; her second husband: Charles “Chuck” Fields; one daughter: Yvonne Seals; one son: Randy Hammond; two sisters: Catherine (the late Merle) Belt and Ruth (the late Shorty) Jarvis; and three brothers: Martin (wife Leona survives) Bourisaw, John (wife Nancee survives) Bourisaw, and Clifford Bourisaw. She was a beautician and while living in California served as an “extra” in several movies and television series including; ‘Murder She Wrote”, “Matlock”, and “The Last Boy Scout”. She also volunteered at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
