Nelson C. Klaus was born on August 29, 1923 in Perryville, MO. He was the son of the late Oscar F. & Ola Jane (nee Seabaugh) Klaus. He died on April 25, 2016 at the Villa’s in De Soto, MO at the age of 92.
He is survived by his children, Dr. Nelson (Vicki) Klaus of Wilmington, NC; Jacquelyn (Rich Filer) Moran of Crystal City, MO; James (Gina) Klaus of De Soto, MO; and Debra (Kevin) Govero of Cape Girardeau, MO; grandchildren, Dr. Nelson Klaus, III, MD; Kirsten Jackson; Emily Moran; Brandon, Brian and Koby Klaus; great grandchildren, Preston, Colin, Maci, and Beatrix.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred (nee DeClue) Klaus; daughter, Sharon Klaus, son-in-law, Richard Moran; sisters, Jewel Wilson and Eulene DeClue; brother, Eugene “Bud” Klaus.
Nelson was a graduate of DHS Class of 1941; elected to the De Soto High School Hall of Fame; Graduated from the University of Missouri where he played football for Don Farout; he served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII, while serving in the Marine Corp. he attended Purdue University where he was Big 10 Champion in the discus and shot put; Nelson was a past board member of the Lancer Endowment at St. Pius, (L.E.A.P.); and was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
Fr. Alexander Anderson will officiate the service.
