Walter Eugene “Walt” Acklie was born in Keokuk, IA on September 1, 1955 a son to Kenneth Eugene and Mary Margaret (nee Ochsenbecker) Acklie. He died on August 2, 2024 at Missouri Baptist Hospital at the age of 68. A graduate of the University of Missouri Walt had retired from Ameren as a Lead Lineman and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local #2 and Operating Engineers Local #148 and until recently, with his wife Brenda, Walt had owned and operated Tooter’s Saloon in Eldon, MO. He is survived by his wife Brenda (nee Mallery) Acklie, Belleview, MO; two sons: Dustin “Dusty” (Kim) Acklie, Eugene, MO and Jared Acklie, Colorado Springs, CO and two granddaughters: Ava and Lily. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Daniel Acklie.
