  • Funeral Service: Friday, May 22, 2020 at 10 AM at the First Baptist Church, 2000 Grace Way, De Soto, MO 63020
  • Interment: De Soto City Cemetery immediately following the funeral service

Vera Catherine (nee Vivrett) McGougan, 91, of De Soto, MO died on May 17, 2020 at her home in De Soto. Vera was a housewife and mother. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of De Soto. She attended the “Naomi” Women’s Sunday school class of the 1st Baptist Church of De Soto. She was a member of the “Golden Age Group” which later became “Senior Adult Ministries” led by Cathy Campbell and Tom. She was a member of the “Red Hats Society” and also the De Soto Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. Vera belonged to the Royal Neighbors fraternal organization. She loved music, Cardinal’s baseball, and she loved to read.
Born April 1, 1929 in St. Louis, MO and when she was 10 years old her parents moved to De Soto, MO where Vera attended De Soto Public Schools – elementary and high school. She graduated De Soto High School in 1947. On August 10, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas she married Arch McGougan, Jr. Vera was the daughter of the late Elmer Joseph Vivrett and Maggie Emma (nee Pierce) Vivrett.
She is survived by her husband Arch McGougan of De Soto; one brother, Bill (Jeanie) Vivrett of Manchester, MO; her two sons, David Wayne (Melinda) McGougan of Eureka and Richard “Rick” Arch McGougan of De Soto; grandchildren, Lorinda (Brian)Krey, Dava McGougan, and Leah (David) Poe; and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, Elma (the late John) Miller, Jack (the late Wilma) Vivrett and Bob (the late Vivian) Vivrett.
