Richard Wiliam “Dick” Copenhaver was born in St. Louis on August 19,1936 a son to William L. “Cope” and Ida G. (nee Els) Copenhaver. He died at the Baisch Nursing Center on January 2, 2016 at the age of 79. He is survived by three children: Christine (Craig) Brewer, De Soto, Richard “Rick” (Janet Jachino) Copenhaver, Jr., Hillsboro, and Weston (Linda) Copenhaver, Dripping Springs, TX: seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister: Janet (Phil) Meadows, Edinburgh, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joan (nee Tegethoff) Copenhaver who died December 22, 2015. He served as a Missouri Highway Patrolman as well in the Air National Guard. With his wife he owned and operated Sundown Saddle Shop with locations in Potosi and De Soto, the Silver Dollar Burger and Shake and Westland MFA, both in De Soto. He was also was the owner of Sundown Construction Company of Blanco TX. Dick wasalso a life member of the National Rifle Association. While living in Texas he also helped form the Blanco Cowboy Church. Randy Starkey, Co-Senior Pastor of the Victory Church in Pevely will officiate the service.
