My Aunt Mickie was a remarkable woman.
She lived all over the United States:in Texas, New Jersey, Louisiana,Missouri [of course!], and for over 40 years, in California.
She was intelligent, courageous, and, occasionally, stubborn. She had strong values and a deep faith in God. She was an accomplished artist in both knitting and crochet--both of which she taught. [She tried to teach me but I was an inept pupil].
She loved animals and raised Cairn terriers. Her most beloved animal companion was "Katie", a Cairn terrier who happened to be the great-granddaughter of the famous "Toto" from the movie, "The Wizard of Oz".
She would go to any lengths for the people she loved: including riding the Matterhorn rollercoaster at Disneyland with me when I came to California to visit her and Uncle Jack for a month when I was 13.
She will be in my heart forever.
