Melvin Lewis Bast was born on December 13, 1934 in St. Louis, MO. He was the son of Benjamin & Bessie Bast. He died on October 3, 2024 at Scenic Nursing Facility in Herculaneum, MO at the age of 89.
Melvin is survived by his children, Terry (Artelelia) Bast of Antioch, IL; Michael (Christine Klein) Bast of Mansfield, TX; Kevin Bast of St. Louis, MO; and Billie (Robert Hampton) Huggins of De Soto; 5 grandchildren, Rebecca, Shawn, J.P., Seth, and Veronica; several great grandchildren; and two brothers, Gerald (Linda) Bast of St. Louis, MO and James (Karen) Bast of Fenton, MO, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his companion Vernie Gorsuch.
Along with Melvin’s dedication, he inspired so many people throughout his life being active with the Boy Scouts and serving as a Leader, he spent many years of dedication to the Lion’s Club, holding multiple offices including President, and also with his employment as a Medical Tech and Certified Nurses Assistant with nursing facilities.
