Mary K. White was born May 26, 1921 in De Funiak Springs, Florida, a daughter to Percy and Mae (nee Smith) Barnes.  She died October 29, 2011 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, at the age of 90.  She is survived by three sons: John Kenneth “Ken” White Jr., De Soto, Terry Alan White, De Soto, and Ronald Eugene White, Cranbury, New Jersey; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband: John Kenneth White Sr. and one son: Gary Wayne White.  She taught music at Sunrise School, was a member of the First Baptist Church-De Soto, and also served as organist for the First Baptist Church-De Soto and later at the Calvary Baptist Church, De Soto.  Ms. White also was the organist/pianist for many church and community events,  weddings, and for several area funeral homes; she also worked for Claude Cook Insurance Agency.  Interment in the De Soto City Cemetery will follow services officiated by Rev. Marvin Nobles.
