Marion Emma Filkins was born on September 13, 1926 in Blackwell, MO. She was the daughter of Henry B. and Mary Josephine (nee Courtaway) Deering. She died on July 30, 2024 at Stonebridge in De Soto at the age of 97.
Marion is survived by 3 grandsons, Ron (Deanna) Filkins, Chris (Shannon) Filkins, and Paul (Jennifer) Filkins; daughter-in-law, Brenda Filkins; one sister, Virgie Armbruster; 9 great grandchildren, David Filkins, Nathan Filkins, Paul Filkins, Amanda Filkins, Danyel Filkins, Drew Filkins, Derek Filkins, Dalayna Young, and Dustin Rhodes; 9 great great grandchildren, Jaden, Justin, Braylon, Jeremy, Easton, Hayden, Everett, Chasereae, and Breiliegh; and her special friends, Cathy & Tom Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd W. Filkins, Sr.; three sons, Lloyd W. Filkins, Jr., Ronald M. Filkins, and Gary W. Filkins; one sister, Eula Underwood; and three brothers, Earl Deering, Buford Deering, and Lyndell Deering.
Marion was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Soto. She had retired from Boatman’s Bank. She loved sports and was an avid Cardinal’s fan.
As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of De Soto Building Fund.
