Mabel L. Akins was born in De Soto on March 4, 1928 a daughter to Thomas and Martha (nee Iahn) Rawson.  She died on December 29, 2018 in Fort Walton Beach, FL at the age of 90.  She is survived by five children: Regina Stokes, Louisiana, Bryant Akins, Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Janise Bryant, De Soto, MO, Bruce Akins, De Soto, MO, and Louise Akins, Leadington, MO; her grandchildren: Stephanie Gerler, James Akins, Brigitte Thorn, Launa Meesey, William Bryant, Renee Akins, Michael Akins, Elizabeth Cochran, Sandy Silerio, an Melinda Skaggs; her great-grandchildren: Cordel Willets, Riley Gerler, Cole Gerler, Matthew Thorn, Jamie Thorn, Ehlanna Thorn, Dorian Meesey, Michael Akins, Thomas Akins, Kenneth Cochran, Royce Cochran, Hayden Silerio, and Zoe Silerio; and one sister: Ruby Roberts.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Oran B. Akins; one granddaughter: Autumn Stokes; seven sisters: Elba Head, Bernice Haverstick, Norma Knickles, Myrtle Pettus, Alice Mayo, Gladys Mayo, and Lucille Hogan; and two brothers: Thomas Rawson and Wayne Rawson. Ms. Akins had retired as a school teacher at Sunrise School.
