Joyce Ann Witte was born June 19, 1940 in St. Louis a daughter to Lennie H. and Valle E. (nee Barbaro) Rowland. She died at her daughters home in Hillsboro on September 13, 2014 at the age of 74. She is survived by her children: David (Lynn Fredrick) Smith, Lakeland, FL, Julie (Don) Hurtgen, Festus, Johnny Smith, De Soto, Amy (Mike) Bowman, Hillsboro, and Andreanna (Chris) Carson, Conway, SC; grandchildren: Ryan (Sabrina) Hurtgen, Sarah (Andrew) Duncan, Kenneth Smith, James Maxwell, Jr., Matthew Maxwell, Jair Williams, Katiyana Williams, Cruz McComas, Caroline Carson, Jennifer Bowman, Jessica Bowman, Howard Kane, Michael Kane, Daniel Kane, and Ann Kane; great-grandchildren: Zachary, Collin, Nevaeh, David, James, Wyatt, and Skylar; sisters: Margie Beckley, St. Peter’s and Geneva Ross, Ironton; and a brother: Rev. Melvin Rowland, Fredericktown. She is preceded in death by her parents; Her husband: Martin Witte; former husband and friend Kenneth R. Smith: brothers: Fred Worth and Lennie G. Rowland; a sister: Sharon Biggs; and a son-in-law: Gary Williams. She worked as a nurse’s aide for Jefferson Memorial Hospital and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, De Soto. Bro. Wayne Gibson will officiate the services.
