Jeremiah “Jerry” Nixon was born March 7, 1925 in East St. Louis, IL. He died on February 26, 2016 at his residence in St. Louis, MO at the age of 90 years. He is survived by his wife Kathryn “Katy” (nee Eames) Nixon, St. Louis, MO; children, Melinda “Mindy” (Francis T., III) Moynihan, Columbia, MO, The Honorable Jeremiah “Jay” (Georganne) Nixon, Jefferson City, MO; and Penelope “Penny” Nixon, Decatur, TX; grandchildren, Alex Moynihan, Bess (James Dezan) Moynihan, Frank Moynihan, IV, Jeremiah Nixon, and Will Nixon. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Lea (nee Wilson) Nixon; second wife, Dolores (nee Kratky) Nixon; brothers, Thomas, William, and Jim Nixon; and one sister, Frances Fisher. Jerry was a graduate of the University of Missouri Law School; served as the assistant prosecuting attorney in Jefferson County and later established his own law practice in Hillsboro; served as Mayor of De Soto and as a Municipal judge; served as Scoutmaster of Troop 559 in De Soto; Nixon was involved in numerous civic organizations, including the Governor Thomas Fletcher Home in Hillsboro; he enjoyed sailing, having sailed in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Transatlantic excursions. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy during WWII; and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. As an expression of sympathy the family requests donations to the charity of choice.
