Joseph Glenn Freer was born September 3, 1913 in Poplar Bluff a son to Joseph Gideon and Hattie Mae (nee Hogan) Freer. He died at his De Soto residence on Aug 6, 2011 at the age of 97. He is survived by his dear friend Jimmie Turner and his wife Susie; a step daughter Marie Knoll and her family and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two wives: Stella (nee Turley) Freer and Mildred “Millie” (nee Dodson) Dugan Freer; sisters: Ida Wilson, Augusta Byrnes, and Clara Vreeland and brothers: Paul, James “Ed”, and Walter Freer. Mr. Freer retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad where he was a mechanical draftsman, was a member of and taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church-De Soto, and active with the De Soto Senior Citizens Center. He also loved to garden and was a home builder.Jimmie Turner will officiate the service with burial to follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, De Soto.
