Gladys R. Hammack was born September 8, 1929 in De Soto a daughter to Mary K. (nee Haverstick) and Ernest B. Lewis, Sr.  She died June 7, 2012 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center at the age of 82.  She is survived by two daughters: Susan Hammack, Kirkwood, and Terrie Entrup, Trussville, AL; one son: Robert (Brenda) Hammack, De Soto; three grandchildren: Chad (Stephanie) Entrup, Michelle (Anthony) Dorsett, and Brian Hammack; one sister: Patsy Crain, Festus; three brothers: Charles Lewis, Alexandria, VA, David Lewis, Boise, ID, and John (Mary) Lewis, West Plains; and two sisters-in-law: Leona Daughtery and her daughter Toni with whom Ms. Hammack was especially close, and Mona Faye Lewis.  She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Hammack; one son-in-law Ron Entrup; two sisters Opal Schillinger and Mary K. Flecke; and five brothers: Robert Lewis, Ernest Lewis, Jr. Raymond Lewis, Richard Lewis, and Cecil Lewis.  She was a beautician at Margaret’s Beauty Shop in De Soto, worked at the polls for elections and did chair caning.  As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
