Daniel Wallace Whaley was born in Blackwell on October 26, 1951 a son to Bernard and Mary (nee Missey) Whaley.  He died on August 23, 2023 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson at the age of 71.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years Sheila (nee Robinson) Whaley, De Soto; two daughters Jennifer (Brad) Schaeffer, De Soto and Cynthia (Tommy Watkins) Whaley-Wicker, Festus; two grandchildren Sebastian Wicker and Layla Schaeffer; one sister Susan (Duane) Ferguson, De Soto; two brothers Robert “Bob” (Pat) Whaley, De Soto and Richard (Dot) Whaley, De Soto and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister Nancy Wilkerson and one brother Larry Whaley.   A 1970 graduate of De Soto High School Dan had retired from Winter Brothers Material Company.  He was a member of  the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 513, B.P.O. E. #689, and V.F.W. #1831.  Dan enjoyed watching sports and fishing and especially spending time with his family and friends.  As an expression of sympathy memorial Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd. , St. Louis, MO  63108.
