Brenda Sue Harris (née Leanard), beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Brenda was born in 1942 to Loyd William Leanard and Gladys M. Smith (Story), both of whom preceded her in death.

Brenda was the devoted wife of the late Albert Dale Harris. She is survived by her cherished children, Loyd Harris (Terri) of Pacific, MO; Gregory Harris (Tanya) of Mabank, TX; and Krista Sander (Russell) of De Soto, MO.

Brenda was a proud grandmother to Aleatha Harris, Alex Sander (Carrie), Andy Sander, Mallory DuBois (Stefan), Natalie Harris, Gregory Harris Jr., Anita Hansel (Derek), and Madison Brown (Nathan). Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, including Tyler and Lydia Harris, Michaela and Emily Sander, Bella Gomez-Harris, Oliver and Lorelai Hansel, Liam Harris, Cooper and Hazel Dubois, Ryder Richards, Marshall and Rush Brown; in addition step-grandchildren William Chase, Meaghan and Bridget Angus, and the Denbow’s: Shannon, Steven, David, Joshua, Jedediah, Leighanna, and their families, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Brenda was preceded in death by her sister Marjorie Sansone (née Leanard). She is survived by her siblings, Deborah (Steve) Baker (née Story) of Chaffee, MO and Michael Story of St. Louis, MO.

Brenda was a fiercely independent woman with a sharp wit and an unapologetic attitude. She spoke her mind, stood her ground, and taught those around her the value of resilience and honesty. Her home reflected her personality—vibrant, unpredictable, and always full of character. Brenda’s presence left an impression on everyone she met, and while she didn’t always sugarcoat things, her love for her family was undeniable.

Her legacy lives on through her family, who will continue to honor her memory by embodying the values she held dear. Brenda will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held at De Soto Community Center on Sunday, January 5th, 2025 from 2-5 PM. Family and friends are welcome to join and share their memories.

Rest in peace, dear Brenda. Your love will forever guide us.
