Betty Jane Merseal was born June 8, 1941 in Belgrade, MO. She was the daughter of Lawrence Irwin and Oma Edna (nee Giffin) Gillam. She died on September 19, 2019 at Hillcrest Care Center, De Soto, MO at the age of 78 years. She is survived by her children, Don (Nadine) Merseal, De Soto, MO; Linda (John) Watkins, De Soto, MO; and Larry (Lorie) Merseal, De Soto, MO; siblings, Dean (Judy) Gillam, De Soto, MO; Merle (Shirley) Gillam, Pevely, MO; and a sister-in-law, Betty Gillam, De Soto, MO; grandchildren, Gail (Tiger) Kenuam, Julie (Jack) Greer, Sarah (J.J.) Hammond, Brittney (Terry) Haffner, Amy (Roger) James, David Merseal, and John Watkins, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Justin, Ryan,  Chance, Koltyn, Arrow, and Keenyn ; one great great-grandchild, Jasper. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence Elmer Merseal; siblings, Mary Ann Byers, Ruth (Howard) Downs; Harold (Norma) Gillam, Darrell Gillam, Lottie Gillam; and Earl (Emma Lou “Cookie”) Gillam. Betty worked at the Bus Cafe, De Soto Shoe Factory, and Fountain Blue Nursing Home. As an expression of sympathy memorials to the De Soto Senior Center, 13227 State Rd. E., De Soto, MO 63020.
