Bessie Mae Chatman was born in Greenville on March 1, 1935 a daughter to David “Roscoe” and Easter Josephine “Josie” (nee Elder) Cozort. She died on July 25, 2023 at Mercy Hospital-Jefferson at the age of 88. She is survived by two daughters: Vickie (Daniel) Darland, Hillsboro and Kay (Michael) Smith, Festus; grandchildren: Michael Leonard, Mandy (Michael) Trask, Chrissy Leonard, Jesse Darland, Matthew (Denise) Smith, Angie Smith and Daniel Smith; great grandchildren: Alyssa, Abby, Klayton, Paige, Lillian, Dominic, Micayla, Brooklynn, Emma and Dylan; three sisters: Glenda (J.D.) Miller, Poplar Bluff, Hazel (the late Jerry) Scrivner, Crystal City and Wanda Cozort, Poplar Bluff and one brother Wayne (the late Wanda) Cozort, St. Louis. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hershel Sanford Chatman; a daughter Maria Chatman and two sisters Betty ( the late Bud) Webb and Thelma McWilliams.
