Benjamin H. Gowan, Jr. was born in De Soto on April 30, 1924 a son to Nellie B. (nee Maness) and Benjamin H. Gowan, Sr. He died June 4, 2011 in Fenton at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife Betty (nee Johnson) Gowan; three daughters: Linda (Bob) Nappier, Fenton; Rhonda (Doug) Landau, Dittmer; Cindy (Steve) Greer, De Soto; one son: Terry Hayes, De Soto; five grandchildren: Erica, Michael, Tyler, Courtney, and Takara; and one sister: Rebecca Fischer, De Soto. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Ruth Gowan and Mildred Brinley; and one brother: Hugh Gowan. He was a member of Carpenters Local #2214 and Redeemer Lutheran Church. He seved in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the De Soto Food Pantry or the Luekemia and Lymphoma Society
